The 76th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Microscopy

Welcome Message

The Japanese Society of Microscopy (JSM) holds an annual general scientific meeting once a year, focusing on the latest topics in the field of Microscopy, and sharing recent findings and research accomplishments through presentations and discussions. The 76th Annual Meeting of JSM will take place from May 25th to 27th in 2020 at the International House Osaka, in the city of Osaka. Researchers, engineers, and technical experts with a shared interest in the microscope will gather, going beyond the boundary of expertise between instrumental or material fields and medical or biological fields, between the academic and the industry. We are keen to make it the most prosperous meeting ever, and we hope for significant participation.

The meeting theme is “The Synergetic Microscopy.” We say synergy here with the hope that various techniques and technologies merge and interact with each other to accomplish further advancement in the field. Various techniques in Microscopy as well as creative peripheral technologies, analytical techniques, and information technologies, such as information processing, database utilization, and AI technologies, which will become increasingly important, will not only add to but also multiply the effect to bring about more significant achievements. To make it a fruitful and prosperous academic meeting for you, we, the organizing committee, are pleased to invite paper submissions mainly for the general presentations. We also plan to discuss several topics in symposium style to present the latest research trends. There will be an international academic symposium session as well, this time between Canada and Japan, to promote international research collaborations, like we did between Germany and Japan in the meeting in 2019. We are working on enriching the tutorial sessions for young researchers in industries and/or student members. Also, in response to our duty as a public service corporation, we are going to organize open lectures and workshops for the general public to propagate the fascinating field of Microscopy to the younger generations, for example, junior high and high school students.

As for the city of Osaka, she has a long history of being both the center of commerce as well as culture in Japan. Osaka will host the World Expo 2025, and the city is now thriving with various development plans and events. Join us in Osaka for our academic meeting, and enjoy the city of fine delicacy and entertainment!
